Do I Need to Provide Any Equipment?
Just a copy of the movie on Blu-Ray or DVD and a power source within 100 feet of where the screen will be set up.
And, if you don’t have a power source, or enough wattage for the power source, we can add a generator on to the rental at a nominal fee.
Outside of that, we provide the rest of the equipment standard with each rental which includes, the blower, the screen, the speakers, the mixer, projector, cables, and even the extension cords.
Do I Have to Set Everything Up Myself?
Nope! While our rentals include all the equipment mentioned above, they also include at least one event staff member at each event who will be there to drop off the equipment, get everything set up, run the screening, and then take everything down and pack it back up.
Which just means you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show as much as possible!
What Time Will the Event Staff Arrive to Set Up?
We generally schedule our event staff to arrive about 1 1/2 – 2 hours before the start of your screening. However, weather and traffic can sometimes cause delays in our arrival. Fortunately, our screens can generally be set up in around 45 minutes (and in some cases a half hour).
We just add in the extra time to give us a bit of a buffer in case there are any delays.
Is Weather a Concern? What if It Rains on the Day of My Event?
Rain can put a damper on any event.
Your audience normally doesn’t want to get wet to sit through the screening and the water is terrible for our equipment.
So, in the case of inclement weather on the day of your rental, we also include our standard weather reassurance policy. This allows you to reschedule the event on the day of your rental at no additional cost if there’s a 30% or higher chance for rain in your area.
You would just need to notify us that you would like to utilize the policy by 2 pm on the day of the event.
Mega Outdoor Movies also reserves the right to reschedule the event if the chance for rain is 50% or higher on the day of the event.
Can I Start the Movie Whenever I Want?
Of course, but… we may also suggest a different time. This is because we check sunrise-sunset.org from the moment we begin to book a rental or even provide a quote in order to find out when it will be dark enough for the picture to be as bright and clear as possible.
(This is around 30 minutes after sunset begins)
Now, if you wanted to start the movie sooner than the recommended time, you’re always more than welcome to do so, but it would affect the quality of the video.
But, if you wanted to start the movie later than that, we can do that as well, just make sure to tell your event coordinator as early arrival may be required for a nominal fee.
Anything I Should Know About Payment?

We do require prepayment for all events with a 50% deposit at the time of booking in order to schedule the event in our calendar. The remaining balance would be due 7 days prior to the rental.If the rental is scheduled within 7 days of the event, the entire balance would be required.
Payment can be made either through check or credit card.If paying by check, you will need to mail the check to

Credit card payments can be submitted online through the invoice page that was sent to you after booking the event or over the phone.
Do I Have to Get a License to Screen a Movie?
For anything outside of your backyard, a license is normally required by the Federal Copyright Act, even if you’re not charging admission.
The cost of the license will vary depending on a couple of factors including specific movie, audience size, and admission fee (if one exists).
The process of obtaining the license is relatively painless and we can help you secure this through Swank Motion Pictures or Criterion.
I’m Showing a Longer Movie. Are Rentals Charged by the Hour?
Nope. We automatically include the set up and tear down time in your quote as well as 2 1/2 hours of screen time.
If your movie or event is scheduled to run longer than 2 1/2 hours, just let your event coordinator know as there may be a slight additional cost.
